Broken Hill Living Desert

The Living Desert is an area a few kilometres outside Broken Hill which has been allowed to revert to the natural setting. The Living Desert includes walking tracks through a Flora and Fauna Reserve surrounded by a fence keeping out dogs, cats, foxes and other vermin. There is also a collection of large sculptures along a walking track around the summit of a hill looking out over the dry and usually barren surrounding country.

sculpture

Piece of sculpture on hilltop in the Living Desert. The sculptures are of sandstone and were erected in 1993. Weathering has already blurred surface details and more weathering damage can be expected.

surrounds

Land around the hill in the Living Desert.
