Travelling Australia - Journal 2010
6 February 2010 - Bairnsdale to Sale
Rain overnight with a dull and wet morning. Traffic was light in Bairnsdale this early on Saturday.

Light, continuous rain and low cloud persisted for most of the 60 kilometres to Sale. This is a pastoral area grazing mainly cattle, and some sheep, over fairly flat ground. Traffic was light and visibility poor in the cloud. In Sale we followed the Princes Highway to the caravan park beside the Information Centre and set up. This had been a very short travelling day.

During the afternoon I went to the swing bridge on the Thompson River which has been bypassed by new concrete bridges and no longer carries traffic on the South Gippsland Highway. The bridge has been restored to working order and is opened on Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m and closed an hour later. An interesting experiences watching this old machinery in action.
