5,6 June - St George
A quiet weekend in St George. The nights were cold but the days reasonably sunny and fairly warm. St George pretty well closes up on Sunday except for the newsagent so we could get a newspaper although a cup of coffee was unavailable.

I spent some time looking at the irrigation facilities, especially the two weirs storing water. The St George Irrigation Area uses water from the Balonne River which is a tributary of the Darling River. The current turmoil over use of water in the Murray-Darling Basin is causing concern around St George because the area depends heavily on cotton grown in the irrigation area and any reduction in water allocation may have a serious impact.
