Pilliga Reserve
Salt Cave Previous photograph Thumbnails Next photograph
Salt Cave in the Pilliga Reserve is a cave in a sandstone outcrop which was originally lined with naturally extruded salt. During the periods when settlers were trying to open up the Pilliga for settlement this salt was collected for preserving food. Note the cypress trees (not eucalyptus trees) growing in front of the cave.
