A series of lagoons, dunes and wetlands has formed around the mouth of the Snowy River between the Ninety Mile Beach on the left, and the coastal cliff visible on the right. As the mouth of the Snowy River moves back and forth along the Ninety Mile Beach under various influences, different parts of the lagoon become the river until the next movement of the river mouth.
